Beth Canning is Supplier Diversity Manager at Prudential Financial Inc. and the primary contact between Prudential Financial and the diverse supplier community. A strong advocate, she is responsible for managing the supplier diversity initiative, which is designed to ensure that minority- and women-owned businesses, as well as veteran, service-disabled and veteran-owned firms are provided meaningful opportunities to participate in Prudential’s procurement process.
Beth has been involved in supplier diversity for most of her 27-year tenure at Prudential and has devoted herself to the effort full time since 2000. Before joining Prudential, she worked for Carteret Savings Bank as an Assistant Branch Manager.
Beth was listed among the WE – Women’s Enterprise USA First Ladies of Supplier Diversity (2008), Minority Business News USA First Ladies of Supplier Diversity (2007), WE – Women’s Enterprise USA Best of the Decade (Director/Manager) (2007) and WE – Women’s Enterprise USA 100 Women Impacting Supplier Diversity (2006). Prudential was named to MBNUSA’s Corporate 101 Top Companies for Supplier Diversity (2010).
Beth actively supports the NY NJ Minority Supplier Development Council, where she serves on the Membership Committee and assists on other ad hoc committees. A former chair of the Financial Services Roundtable, a peer group of National Minority Supplier Development Council members dedicated to enhancing supplier diversity within the financial services industry, she currently serves as a co-chair of the Membership Committee and member of the Executive Committee.
Beth serves on the Board and chairs the New Jersey Certification Committee for the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO). In March 2006, she was honored by the WPEO with the N.Y. Region President’s Award, and in 2008, Prudential was honored as Corporation of the Year – N.Y. Region.
Beth earned a bachelor’s degree from Drew University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Montclair State. She also earned lifetime status of Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.). Most recently, she earned her Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) designation.
