  • Applications are Open for the 2021 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies 2021 marks the 14th anniversary of the Women Presidents’ Organization 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies™ Sponsored by JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking. For fourteen years this ranking has recognized women-owned and/or led companies for their incredible achievements and business growth. Winners are awarded at a keynote session during the WPO annual conference in October, 2021. The 50 Fastest are often publicized in local/national media. Applicants are not required to be members and will be ranked according to revenue growth from 2016 to 2020. To be eligible companies must be:
    • Privately owned
    • Women-owned/led
    • Generated at least $500,00 (USD) in 2016 revenue (and every subsequent year)
    • Revenues must be converted to USD

  • Community Navigator Pilot Program Grant Funding Opportunity SBA is implementing this initiative by building upon its extensive network of resource partners across the country. To ensure the Community Navigator Pilot Program reaches communities across the country in the coming months, SBA has issued a grant funding opportunity that will be open to proposals from SBA resource partners, states, tribes, units of local governments, and other nonprofit organizations. Competitive grant awards will range from $1 million to $5 million for a two-year performance period. Applicants have until July 12, 2021, to submit their applications at grants.gov. Performance periods are projected to commence in September 2021. Those eligible to apply must meet and demonstrate abilities to support the requirements of this funding opportunity.   • The American Rescue Plan extended a number of critical tax benefits for small businesses. Learn more on Wednesday, June 23 at 10am. Join the Small Business Administration (SBA) New England Regional Office and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for an informative webinar on American Rescue Plan (ARP) tax benefits for small businesses. This webinar will highlight the Employee Retention Tax Credit and the Paid Leave Tax Credit. Register
  • SBA Announces Funding Competition to Organizations Providing Federal Procurement Training to Veteran Entrepreneurs The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that non-profit organizations and private sector firms are now eligible to compete for funding of up to $500,000 to deliver federal procurement training to veteran and service-disabled veteran entrepreneurs. The application period begins today through July 12, 2021. Up to two awardees will use the $500,000 in total funding to participate in the Veteran Federal Procurement Entrepreneurship Training Program (SB-OVVT-21-001) with grants from SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development. Awards will be made for a base project period of 12 months, with three option periods of 12 months each. These funds will be used to cover the costs of educating veterans and service-disabled veterans who intend to pursue, or are already engaged in, federal procurement.

  • Tips and tricks on marketing your business to the federal government The SBA Buffalo District Office and the Cattaraugus County Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) present a series of free online courses to provide useful tips for marketing to the federal government.   • SBA Awards Funding to Veterans Business Outreach Center at the University of Maryland, College Park  The U.S. Small Business Administration announced the awarding of $400,000 in funding to the University of Maryland, Division of Research to provide training and counseling as a Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) serving veteran small business owners in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. The funding opportunity, offered by SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development, has an initial project year of 11 months with up to four additional one-year option periods, subject to the availability of funds. The project period is effective starting June 1, 2021 and ends on April 30, 2026.  To learn more about the VBOC program, and to find your local center visit www.sba.gov/vboc.
