  • match pre-screened diverse suppliers with one-on-one meetings and/or pitch sessions with Barclays procurement, internal business and functional partners as well as prime supplier and client representatives. Where a match has been made, suppliers will be notified of interviews and pitch sessions by 23 June
  • showcase diverse suppliers doing great work for Barclays and contributing to the well-being of society
  • provide attendees with helpful information to understand how we’re thinking about ESG and what we’ll be expecting of all third-party providers

Winners are awarded at a keynote session during the WPO annual conference in October, 2021. The 50 Fastest are often publicized in local/national media. The Imaginal Scale-up Program for founders of Women-Led Product and Technology Companies looking to accelerate their growth, scale, and impact is open and ready to accept applications. This new and innovative digital program, created by Imaginal Ventures, combined with a fully immersive platform and a bespoke online Eco-Space, will support the scaling of businesses, using evidenced based techniques that teach conscious decision-making and the building of a solid foundation to accelerate growth and impact. 
This Program will give participants an evolving dynamic process to build their strategies and structures as they scale. Applications need to be submitted by 16th July 2021 ready to start in August!

MBE Magazine Comcast RISE is helping BIPOC business owners take stock, rebuild, and achieve their goals now, and in the future.  
Comcast RISE stands for “Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment”, and brings together two of the company’s brands — Comcast Business and Effectv, both with expertise in the small business space — to help empower business owners with the tools, expertise and resources needed to navigate the economic effects of the pandemic. Recipients will receive help with their marketing, media campaigns and creation of 30-second commercials, as well as website and tech upgrades.  
Qualifying businesses can apply to receive consulting, media and creative production services from Effectv, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, or technology upgrades from Comcast Business. Comcast RISE is now accepting applications from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned, small businesses.

Small Business Administration

  • The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that it is reconvening the Council on Underserved Communities (CUC) under the authority of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). In conjunction with the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda, the restoration of the Council will help support the SBA’s prioritization of equity across its programs and initiatives. The Council will consist of 20 diverse stakeholders from every region of the country tasked with advising the SBA on strengthening and improving its strategies to help underserved communities. With this announcement, the SBA is soliciting nominations from members from the public with a deadline of Tuesday, July 20, 2021. The requirements for nominations include:
    • Must be representative of the interests of urban or rural underserved communities;
    • Former or current small business owner;
    • Community leader;
    • Official from a small business trade association or academic institution.

Nominees should send a letter of self-nomination or a letter of nomination from a peer, professional organization, society, or member of Congress. The letter must indicate which underserved community – rural or urban – the nominee will represent and highlight accomplishments and experience working with small businesses in the previously mentioned communities. Along with the Nominee Information Form and resume, nominees should include the following:

    • Full name of nominee
    • Occupation
    • Physical address
    • Telephone number
    • Email address
  • Monday June 28 | 1:00pm How to Protect Your Intellectual Property Rights in Global Markets. Join SBA’s Office of International Trade’s new Learn to Trade Roundtable Series with Protecting Your Intellectual Property in Global Markets. This 45-minute session will provide an overview for small businesses of the fundamentals of protecting your intellectual property when selling internationally. The session will answer the following common questions:
    • How can I protect my intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets) outside the U.S.?
    • What international agreements exist to help me protect my intellectual property?
    • How can I request enforcement of my trademarks and copyrights against infringing imports and report companies that are importing infringing goods?
    • Learn about resources the U.S. Government provides to help small business exporters and manufacturers in protecting their valuable intellectual property from theft.

Turn to SBA’s STEP Grant to Globalize – Your Website To reach a larger audience, consider globalizing your website – that is, customizing it for different languages and countries. SBA’s State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) offers grants to eligible small businesses to launch or expand their export activities including translating or optimizing websites.


  • Wednesday June 30 | 3:00pm Powering Rural: Creating a Stronger Economic Environment for Rural America. The SBA, CT DoAg, DECD, FSA, SBDC and USDA, will partner on June 30th at 3pm for a panel discussion to guide local growers and producers on direct funding opportunities and a wide network of additional support services for community and economic development.
